Well school is finally out for the summer and now comes the hard part of keeping my son entertained. Luckily, he and I have similar interests, like painting, crafts, cooking and making things such as bath bombs!
I thought we would start off this first weekend of summer with some artwork. This really helps to relax me and calm my nerves, plus it's a great time for Gavin and I to bond and have fun. I've been wanting to do something kind of like a collage, so we did that and made a sunflower!
Here is the supplies we used:
Magazines, scissors, 11" x 14" canvas, and Mod Podge
We started out by cutting small pieces of similar colors out of magazines.
Once we get a few good piles, we started gluing the sky
I sponged on a decent amount of Mod Podge on the canvas then started sticking pieces of magazine on there. Every once in a while I would go over the top of the glued on pieces just to secure them down.
After I got a decent amount of the canvas covered in blue, I started on the center of my sunflower and then the petals
Once I finished the petals, I added a little leaf in there and filled in the rest with blue. After that, I Mod Podged the top of the whole thing.
The glue dries clear and seals the pieces of magazine on the canvas pretty well. And voila! Our finished product!
It took a couple hours to finish, but it's been a rainy day so it was a nice indoor craft for us to do. Happy crafting!
